It's been a busy week, but I've been able to keep up the running. On Tuesday, it was an exciting day as it was also Election day. I ran right after I voted. The weather really cooled off, so I broke out the long sleeves and capri running pants. I knew that I only was going to run two miles, but since my normal route ended with an uphill (and then brief downhill), I decided to run the loop backwards. I would get the up- and downhill over with in the first five minutes. Well, apparently this was a genius idea as I ended up running 2 miles in less than 18 minutes. It's been forever since I did that! It was a quick run, but it was good cause I got back in time to see all the election results.

My next run was on Thursday. I ran around 5pm, and knew I could run a bit longer since the sun doesn't go down until closer to 5:50pm. I ran a 3 mile loop around the nearby lake. It's a nice flat course, so I knew it would be a good way to increase my mileage a bit. The run was great - I can definitely tell that I am feeling stronger. I also have found that having good music to listen to can make a big difference! My latest iTunes purchase was Taylor Swift's newest album "Red." It has a good mix of slow and upbeat songs, and it's a great distraction while I'm running.

Finally, I had a longer run today. I originally set out to run only 3 miles, but a more hillier three miles than the lake route. However, by the time I had pretty much finished all the hills, I realized I still had a lot in me and could run further. So I added on to the loop and ran for a total of 40 minutes! It was such a great run. I'm so glad that I'm feeling stronger each time I go out. I honestly did not expect to be running 4 miles this early in the month. I thought it wouldn't happen until next weekend. It makes me excited to think I may be even to run longer than 4 miles soon!
Even though it was a challenge some days to get motivated to start running, I felt so much better after each run. I am looking forward to another great week (fingers crossed!).
