Winter Wonderland

Winter has finally hit Lubbock. It began getting really cold last night (we're talking a windchill of 10) and then it started to snow after midnight. All in all, I think we got about 2-3 inches of snow. It was a pretty sight to wake up to this morning!

Here's a pic of the view from the front door of my apartment.

It's hard to believe that just two days ago it was in the 70s! Good ol' Lubbock. But it's nice to have it cooler. Tomorrow is the "Carol of Lights" here at Tech, and it supposedly kicks off the Christmas season. I'm glad it won't feel like summer for that!

It is funny, though, how most people assume that I am entirely accustomed to snow and winter. I wonder if 4 winters in Indiana makes me qualified for that - afterall, I'm still a Californian at heart. 4 years ago I had never even seen snow fall from the sky! But those four winters did teach me something. For instance, on days like today you wear shoes with traction (tennis shoes just won't cut it) and you wear a hat to cover your ears (too many kids were wearing baseball caps... that doesn't help!). Gloves are also a must.

Here is one last pic. It's of the courtyard in the Foreign Lanuage building. Snow sure is pretty!

Bundle up and stay warm, everyone! Paz.
