Why hello, blog world. I read some blogs that update once a week with a brief blog entry, so I thought with school being out for summer and all that I might give it a try. So here are three thoughts from the past week:
1. Aaron and I visited his grandparents in Winter Haven this weekend. On Friday night, we played some Euchre. Although Aaron and I are usually a team, we thought we'd switch it up and have the men (Aaron and his grandpa) play against the women (his grandma and me). Aaron jokingly promised he was going to "show the women how to play." Well, Aaron's grandma and I could not be stopped! When we called hands that were a little risky, one of us was able to help the other out. In fact, for the second game, Aaron and his grandpa did not get one single point! After losing three games in a row, Aaron's grandpa conceded (I think Aaron was up for 'best of seven!'). It was a fun night. The next day Aaron and I drove to St. Petersburg (about an hour and a half away) for the Rays vs. Angels baseball game! We had a lot of fun root root rooting for the Angels. I kept hoping that Aaron and my first pro-ballgame together would be a good one. And it was. Until the 10th inning. What happened then? Well, with a runner on thirdbase, the Angel pitcher threw a wild pitch, allowing the runner to score. Game over. The lady sitting next me to said, "Well, if it makes you feel better, that's a lousy way to win a game!" I thought in response, "Yea, but it's a worse way to lose it!" Ah wells. Hopefully we will have a better ending at the game we're going to in a few weeks!
2. Classes and teaching three classes are officially over for the semester! I took my Arabic final and turned in my final papers and grades. I still have more work to do (a grant and publishing work), but I definitely feel relief to cross a few things off my t0-do list.
3. I've been trying to get back into better shape. Last week I exercised four times. I took advantage of the rec center and lifted weights and used the elliptical. Tomorrow looks like the weather shouldn't be as warm, so Aaron and I will go running after he's done with work. I always seem to get extra motivated to get into shape during the summer, so I hope it continues to go well!
Alright, those are three thoughts and a little update of my life now. Have a great week!
