Sentimentalities

I'm sure some of the next blog posts will include reflections of what makes Lubbock so special. As I get ready to make the transition, I think it's normal to feel a bit sentimental. I think it's a good reminder that we need to remember the good of our life, cause we never know when we'll have to leave or when things may change.

One of the constants during my time here in Lubbock has been my participation in mass choir. This past weekend was my last to sing in mass choir, but it ended on a high note (pun intended?). On Saturday, St. Elizabeth's had their Confirmation Mass. My good friend Chris assembled some of St. E's finest to learn the music for the mass. We had chanting AND four-part harmony. I enjoyed the challenge of learning new music and the fun of singing with awesome friends. I've made some dear friends from mass choir over the past three years, and I'm extremely grateful for the fun times. On Sunday, we had the last official student mass. Andy wrote a psalm for me and Carter to sing, so that was cool. We also sang some old favorites, and I could hear the congregation singing along. And then, as usual, when Father Jim was leaving church, he gave Cara and I a big smile. It was a great way to end it all.

As far as an update of my life, I am finished with class and teaching for the semester! However, there's much work left to do coordinating Summer I and preparing for our conference. Fortunately, I get a nice weekend break as I visit my Notre Dame roommates in Dallas(!!). Next week, I'll be home. I'll be working, but at least I'll be home. :) I can't wait!
