Last weekend, I went on a church retreat. It was lots of fun and a great way to give back to the community that has given me so much. On the Saturday of the retreat, the weather was crazy! I experienced my first dust storm. The wind gusted up to 60 mph, and the sky looked like a red fog. It was a definite challenge to keep the doors of the meeting hall shut.

Here's a picture of Travis sitting in front of one of the doors in the meeting hall. My camera didn't take a great picture cause it was running low on batteries, but you can see the pvc pipe jammed in the door handles. Underneathe, Travis is sitting on some heavy amps. The amps alone wouldn't keep the door shut, so someone actually had to sit in front of the door at all times. Crazy!

The next picture is of Josh. He was outside a lot for his staff, so he got a cool picture of the reddish dusty sky. Good thing he had his goggles! And people think LA smog is bad...
It was definitely the most extreme wind I ever experienced in my life. Fortunately, the wind died down by the evening, but it was insane for a few hours.

To update my life since RA, the last few days have been a lot of fun. There have been some awesome times with great friends. On Friday night I went to Club Rodeo, and let me tell you I was suprised to learn that there actually was a rodeo inside Club Rodeo. My friends were talking about bull riding, and I just thought they were talking about mechanical bulls. Oh no. Not in West Texas. In West Texas they actually have real life bull riding every hour at Club Rodeo. You learn something new everyday. That night was a lot of fun, though, as I finally learned how to two-step and kinda learned how to half step (now I wonder if there is such a thing as "one-step").

Friday I'm excited because I get to go home to California. My mom and dad promised good weather, so how could I turn that offer down. :) The trip out there also means I get to visit my sisters and maybe even the Wild Animal Park. Sounds like fun to me!

Paz.
