Howdy y'all!

Has it really been almost two months since I last wrote? Here are some highlights to catch you up on the exciting life of Eileen:

1. I had a birthday. I also had four birthday meals to celebrate said birthday. It was my first birthday away from home, but it was special since I spent it with my Lubbock family.

2. I went to Fort Worth. We went to Arlington to see the Rangers and Angels play. It proved to be an exciting game which unfortunately ended with the Rangers winning. But I was happy my friends who had never been to a major league game got to see the home team win in a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth.

3. I played kickball. Multiple times. Our team may not win every game (ok, so we've only won once...) but we are by far the most spirited. And arguably have the most number of master's degrees.

4. I went to New Braunfels. 14 of us brave souls floated the river last weekend. The thunderstorm mid-way through caused me concern (let's be honest, most thunderstorms do), but we survived. All the fresh air and sun wiped us out and the 14 of us were asleep by 11pm that night. :)

Insert some stressful work days in June, some not so stressful work days in July, and you're pretty much caught up on my life.

I leave for Florida two weeks from today. The reality of it is starting to set in. I'm very excited to be a part of their program! I can't wait to be teaching and taking class. However, I'm sad that I'm leaving my Lubbock friends. I know there's a song that says, "the best thing about Lubbock is when it's in your rear-view mirror." I'm guessing the composer of that song didn't stay long enough to make friends here.
